Ravens TE Pitta is done for the season

Yesterday Dennis Pitta once again dislocated his hip in the Ravens game against Cleveland. Despite not even being touched Pitta reinjured his hip during the second quarter of the game and needed to be carted off the field.

Last year Pitta suffered the same injury during preseason and did not come back until the last month of the season. In the off season Pitta signed a five-year, $32 million contract in March that included $16 million guaranteed.

After catching his third reception of the game Pitta went down. From the time he went down up to him being carted off the field Pitta covered his face with his hands. One can only imagine the pain the talented tight end was feeling.

This season Pitta had 16 receptions for 125 yards and no touchdowns.

After the game head coach John Harbaugh was questioned about Pitta's status and said:

I don’t know how serious that is... I haven’t heard. He told me on the field that it wasn’t as bad as before. I don’t know what that means... Just going to be praying and hoping for the best there. We’ll get more information, but that’s just so, so disappointing.

Just several hours ago Adam Schefter confirmed that Pitta is out for the season.

With Pitta now officially out we will likely see Owen Daniels and rookie Crockett Gillmore see more snaps in the tight end spot. Gillmore was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2014 draft and Daniels was acquired in free agency after not being re-signed by the Texans.
