Ray Lewis says his situation is "Night and Day" from Rice's

After the TMZ video of the actual Ray Rice assault came out yesterday, the Baltimore Ravens finally decided to release Ray Rice. The move came after months of stubbornly supporting him and failing to institute any further team discipline after the NFL suspended him for only two games.

On ESPN Monday Night Countdown, Ray Lewis talked about his former teammates situation.

Ray Lewis On Ray Rice's Release

Ray Lewis doesn't want his past brought up because he feels its not relative to the current situation. He feels that the situations are "night and day"

There's no comparison, it's not about me personally," Lewis said. "Me speaking with the owner of the Ravens, Steve Bisciotti, just moments ago and just listening to what Steve was saying about the reason why Ray Rice will never play for the Ravens again is because when he saw this video himself he put anybody that's connected to him that's a female and in that position, you have to take a step back when you're an owner and you see that type of evidence that you haven't heard before, haven't seen before.

One thing Steve made very clear: There is no comparison of me and Ray Rice. It's night and day. It's night and day of anything we've ever been through. And that's why both situations are totally different.

We may never know to what extent Ray Lewis was involved in the murder of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar. We do know that he was found guilty of obstruction of justice for lying to police, saying he wasn't at the crime scene. Meanwhile Ray Rice viciously attacked a woman in an elevator. Both situations are terrible. The only night and day difference that I can see is one was captured committing the act on camera while the other wasn't. One admitted he committed the crime afterwards while the other made a plea agreement for a lesser charge then ratted out his friends who are now in prison for murder.

The Fact that ESPN allowed this hypocrisy is appalling.

Ray Lewis had a long and productive career after his brush with the law. That was enabled by a Ravens organization and the NFL that ignored the serious allegations against him and only gave him a slap on the wrist fine and no suspension. Those same two organizations tried to let Rice off easy as well, but thanks to a camera and social media, they were forced to do the right thing this time.
