Revis weighs in on Vikings' Cordarrelle Patterson
Veteran defensive back Darrelle Revis did not necessarily get the coming out party that he and all of Patriots Nation were looking for. Instead, Revis and the rest of the Patriots collapsed in the second half to lose to a less-talented Miami Dolphins team. As any veteran player or coach would tell you though, you just need to get over it and move on to the next week.
After focusing mostly on Dolphins No.1 receiver Mike Wallace, the focus now shifts to the Minnesota Vikings and the emerging Cordarrelle Patterson. In his rookie season last year, Patterson slowly created roll for himself and eventually made his name known. His play making ability is not limited to the wide receiver position; he was a Pro Bowl return-man and can also make some outside rushes. Revis dished out plenty of compliments for the rising young star:
Last week in the season opener against the St. Louis Rams, Patterson showed no sign of a sophomore slump, totaling 102 yards which included a 67-yard TD rush. Revis went on to explain that because of Patterson's play-making abilities, it is important for the Patriots defense to know exactly where Patterson is lined up at all times:
Patterson along with former Patriot QB Matt Cassell and the rest of the Vikings will host the Patriots in their first AFC-NFC match-up of the season. The Patriots hope to make a statement and execute much better in all three phases of the game. Patterson could make that more difficult than it sounds.

“I’m a big fan of his,” Revis said of the second-year wide receiver from Tennessee. “He’s one of the most explosive players in the league. He makes plays in the kicking game and also in the offense. They’re pitching him the ball on tosses and reverses and he’s taking them the distance. Very explosive player and have to know where he’s at at all times.”

“Is he’s on the left side of the formation, on the right side? Is he motioning? Is his alignment off the ball? Is he in the slot? Is he motioning in the backfield? You just have to know where he is so we can get a guy or two where he’s at.”
