Ring Envy: What Vikings fans said - 9/14/14
Finally, it's back! Our popular Ring Envy series is a spinoff of the "Green Envy" series we run at CelticsLife. We lay out comments from the opposing team's fans during the game after a Patriots win!
We kick off the 2014 season with the downtrodden Vikings fans. I don't think any of them expected to win this game and they weren't feeling too great anyway with the Adrian Peterson news. Still, their hate fot Cassel and Edelman was pretty entertaining. Eventually they just turned their eyes to former Red Sox reporter, Jenny Dell, who was working the sidelines with her new CBS gig.
Top Five:
Go Vikings. Our offense is stagnant, and our defense getting dissected. Who cares though, go Vikings. Yay.
What is up with the Patriots turning small white guys into stars.
The game, IMO, is much closer than the score indicates. The long int return and the blocked FG returned for a TD masks a pretty competent game so far for the Vikings. It's 24-7, but it feels like a pretty good 24-7 given we are playing the Pats and given the incompetent play the past few years. Meh, I'll take it despite the score.
Trade Adrian Peterson for Patriot's punter.

I would say, nationwide, 85% of the country would take the Patriots in this game.
Hard to give a turkey in light of the Adrian stuff, pardon the harsh language.
But for whatever reason, I wouldn't be surprised if we won by a field goal?
I think everybody in the country is thinking BLOWOUT but it will be like a 7 to 10 point game.

I think all of us knew this would be one of the hardest games to win, all year. But to lose because of turnovers and a friggin FG block and score? We all know the refs hate us, and never get the benefit of the doubt. Its the way we are losing that hurts.
Only good thing about this game is the sideline reporter WoW!

This is like ground hog day every year. I always find myself wanting the qb on the bench to come in for the one that is stinking it up on the field.

The game plan doesn't change the bad play by so many. Poor execution, across the board, was the theme for this game. I don't care who is in, they are all professionals - or supposed to be. Why did Norv get away from the run (which worked) to go straight to the air (which didn't work) and keep going airborne (which STILL didn't work)??? Reminiscent of last year, on all fronts.
If our team has such little mental discipline to play this badly with the loss of one player, we're in for a really long season again.
If next week is as poor of a showing as this year, I'll start regretting my Sunday Ticket purchase. I expected a LOT more out of the Vikes.
It was close to one of those games you beat yourselves with though admittedly, New England's defense after that first drive was awesome. Sacks, Interceptions, the FG blocked. Everything.
This game could have been even worse. The patriots had over 100 yards in penalties and still won by 23 points. Many of them prolonged drives for us.
Total meltdown in every sense of the word. I'm most disappointed that zimmer didn't have the team mentally prepared IMO. Obviously losing the stud player affects everything, but that was a defeated team well before the game got out of hand. It was like the first INT and the subsequent 3 and out was a death sentence.
Oof, that was embarrassing.

What an awful game. Awful play calling. Awful execution. Awful everything. I have nothing to say other than next week is not going to be any easier. This team looks lost without Peterson. But, IDC whether or not he plays.
One thing: AP would have been SO proud with how well we handled that whoopin! :twisted:
