Seahawks CB Richard Sherman is never yesterday's news
Gregg Doyel, CBSSports:
It has been eight months since Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman ranted on national television with sideline reporter, Erin Andrews. His outburst directed at San Francisco 49er's WR Michael Crabtree was a carryover from an offseason incident at a charity function. Richard felt he had been disrespected by Crabtree, and wanted to fight. He relayed that message in his postgame interview with Erin Andrews. Most critics felt Sherman gloated as a "poor winner."
Patriots coach, Bill Belichick called the hit by Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker "one of the worst plays I've seen." Welker had collided with New England CB Aqib Talib on a pass pattern in the middle of the field during the AFC Championship game. Talib was injured on the play and did not return to the game. Welker finished the game, and his team went on to play in the Super Bowl.
Here is what national columnist, Gregg Doyel of CBS Sports feels about Belichick versus Sherman. "Because what Belichick said about Welker was 50 times worse than what Sherman said about Crabtree. Maybe 75 times worse. A hundred times worse? Yeah, probably so."
I think Gregg is leaving out the filth associated with the Richard Sherman rant that can't be printed. It is so easy to let Richard slide because he is not a member of management. The bar couldn't be set any lower.
We know that coach, Bill Belichick just moves on. Erin Andrews bumped Pam Oliver off the top sideline job on FOX. Aqib Talib signed with Denver. Wes Welker has had at least two concussions, and a two game suspension since the "worst play." Richard Sherman continues his weekly talk show on the field.
Following another Ryder Cup loss, Star Golfer Phil Mickelson took a page out of the Richard Sherman playbook. At the press conference after a third consecutive loss to the Europeans, Mickelson placed the blame on the captain, Tom Watson.
Karen Crouse, New York Times:
I pity the Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll when he benches CB Richard Sherman. "Players only love you when they're playing."

Richard Sherman said something shocking. Bill Belichick said something disgusting. Not a subtle difference, that.
Sherman? He gloated. He was a poor winner. He didn't show much any class by erupting on national television after the Seahawks beat San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game.
Meanwhile, New England Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick very calmly sat down behind a microphone and without even a drop of emotion accused Broncos receiver Wes Welker (an ex-Patriot) of trying to injure another player.

Same word from multiple Chargers in reference to Richard Sherman: "Exposed." Sherman did not speak with media after game.

Presumably Watson’s right-hand man, Mickelson decidedly was not. After being benched for both sessions Saturday, the first time he had sat out an entire day of the competition, Mickelson had a lot of time — maybe too much — to ponder what had gone wrong.
Mickelson, who scored a 3-and-1 victory over Stephen Gallacher in the Sunday singles, mentioned the pod system installed by the 2008 captain, Paul Azinger. Players were divided into small groups that ate, slept and practiced together, the better to form a bond.
I pity the Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll when he benches CB Richard Sherman. "Players only love you when they're playing."
