That game was bad, but it's only Week 1

I was upset after yesterday's 33-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins, to put it mildly. Whatever the Patriots were doing well in the 1st half just went out the door in the 2nd half and the Pats gave up 23 unanswered in the 2nd half. The Pats looked bad in every phase of the game. I mean, really bad. After the defense forced 3 turnovers in the 1st half, they couldn't stop the Dolphins offense from running all over them. Quite literally - Knowshon Moreno destroyed the Pats for the 2nd time after putting up 200+ yards on the Pats last year. Offensively, the Pats turned the ball over 3 times including 2 fumbles from Tom Brady, and not to mention 4 straight drives resulting in punts.

But, if there is a silver lining, it's this: It's only Week 1. There's time to right the ship and get back to playing like the New England Patriots we all know and love. And I think it's always easier to come back from a loss like this because it's easy to analyze what went wrong and fix it. The Patriots are one of the best teams in the league, even if they didn't look like it against Miami, and I think they will make the necessary adjustments before they play Minnesota next Sunday.

Also, there's the fact that the last time (2003) the Patriots lost their opener, they went on to win the ultimate prize (see tweets below0. Whether they do this year remains to seen, but it's just an interesting tidbit to keep in the back of your head as the season goes on.

Look, as I said above, I was just as upset as most Pats fans, but lets keep this in perspective. It is only the first game. They still have 15 more to play, and I had every confidence that they can recover and make a serious push for that elusive 4th ring.
