Bill Belichick on conference call this a.m.: "I don't think anybody walked out of the game, coaching or playing, [saying] it was great."

Surprised? Neither am I. But then again, the Patriots had their problems against the Jets last night and they have plenty to work on between now and the next game against the Chicago Bears. They have to figure out who's going to replace Stevan Ridley alongside Shane Vereen in the run game. I love Vereen, but I don't think he can carry the whole load by himself in the run game for the Patriots. Someone, whether that's Brandon Bolden, Jonas Gray, or James White (or all of the above), will have to step up.
And then there's the run defense, which gave up 218 yards to the Jets last night. I'm not necessarily surprised by that, as it will take time to adjust to losing Jerod Mayo, but they've got 9 days now to figure out his replacement and work out how to better stop the run going forward. I don't think any Pats fan realistically expects the defense to be elite without Mayo, but the Patriots have to keep teams under 200 yards going forward.
Granted, a win is a win, and I'm glad the Patriots won, but if last night was any indication, they've still got some issues to work on before they play the Bears in 9 days.
