Down 28 points, Lamarr Houston tears ACL celebrating sack of Jimmy Garappolo

Back up quarterback Jimmy Garrappolo was put in the game towards the end of the fourth quarter.

That's usually a pretty clear sign that a team up 28 points feels pretty confident they are going to win.

Most of the time, players on the losing end of a blow out don't have much to celebrate at that point. That wasn't the case with Bears' defensive end Lamarr Houston, who earned himself a meaningless sack of Garappolo as the final few minutes of the game ticked away.

Houston got up, celebrated, slipped and, reportedly, tore his ACL and will be out for the year, the Bears GM announced. For his part, Houston regrets the context of his injury.

"I have to get an MRI in the morning, hopefully everything is good, but we'll see tomorrow," Houston said Sunday. "I probably shouldn't have celebrated while they were blowing us out, but it happens.

Houston is a pretty significant player for the Bears and a huge loss for an already shaky defense. The lesson here? You probably shouldn't waste energy celebrating sacking a backup quarterback when your team is down 51-23 at the end of the fourth quarter.

Houston signed with the Bears this offseason and has $15 million guaranteed.
