Next guest at Revis Island: Demaryius Thomas

Coach Bill Belichick has a difficult task ahead of him as the Patriots prepare to host the Denver Broncos this Sunday. Our beloved hooded guru must develop strategies to take away Peyton Manning's offensive toys. The big question on everyone's mind is who Darrelle Revis will cover during Sunday's game? If I am drawing up the x's and o's, the answer is very simple. I want to put my best cover guy on their best wide receiver, which happens to be Demaryius Thomas.

During last Sunday's matchup against the Bears, the Patriots' secondary were successful with Revis glued to the left side and Brandon Browner on the right. You must remember that the defense was successful against a Jay Cutler led offense. Coach Belichick knows that many of his schemes will not work for "the best quarterback he has coached against" aka Peyton Manning.

Like Liam Neeson in Taken, Revis has a special set of skills. He has the rare talent of limiting or shutting down your best receiver. Coach Belichick would be foolish not to put him on Demaryius Thomas. The last time these two faced each other was back in 2011. While a member of the Jets, Revis held Thomas to 2 receptions for 37 yards. In all fairness, Thomas had Tebow as his quarterback. Either way, Revis was still able to step up to the challenge and limit the Broncos superstar receiver.

Besides Thomas, who else can Revis invite to his island? Let's take a look at the options:

Emmanuel Sanders

I don't see Revis matching up very well with this speedster. Plus he is one of those receivers that can line up just about anywhere. Expect Logan Ryan or Alfonzo Dennard to be tasked with Sanders

Wes Welker

Oh Wessy poo! Welcome back to New England. As of late, it seems like Welker's targets have dropped. As the Bronco's slot receiver, I think it would be a rare occurrence for Revis to match up with Welker (and his oversized Spaceballs helmet).

Julius Thomas

This budding superstar tight end has become one of Manning's reliable targets (especially in the red zone). Expect Brandon Browner to get physical with Thomas. Hopefully, Browner doesn't receive any costly penalties.

As stated before, it only makes sense for our best defender (Revis) to cover their best receiver (D. Thomas). With safety help over the top, I expect to see the middle routes open for Welker & Sanders. As long as the defense can make tackles, this won't matter.

Weatherman Predicts: Revis will hold Demaryius Thomas to 5 catches for less than 70 yards and one cheesy touchdown.
