TB refutes Mort Report on WEEI, says "no team I'd rather play for than Pats, no coach I'd rather play for than BB"
Tom Brady took to the airwaves this morning for his weekly appearance on WEEI's Dennis and Callahan Show to discuss last night's convincing, and much-needed victory over previously unbeaten Cincinnati.
TB spoke to the importance of the victory, the faith he has in his offensive line, and his love for Rob Gronkowski, who spoke about Brady passionately to the media last night following the game.
Brady was also asked about the rumors swirling this past week about "tension" in the locker room, primarily stemming from a report from Chris Mortensen that, amongst other things, stated that growing rifts between Brady and the Pats coaching staff could lead to his departure from the team sooner rather than later.
Brady denied the report, insisting he has and always has had a great relationship with his coaches. These sentiments were also expressed by the quarterback in his post-game presser last night.
Brady was specifically asked to address the statement in the Mort Report that his role in the game-planning and decision making has been diminished. His response was an emphatic "Absolutely not."
If there is any rift between Brady, the staff, and the team, he is not letting on, stating "there is no team I'd rather play for than the Patriots, and no coach I'd rather play for than Coach Belichick."
Brady and the Patriots certainly silenced their critics for the time being with a great home victory over the Bengals. But that does not necessarily negate all of the content in the Mort Report. It will be interesting to see moving forward how this story line plays out.
For now, Brady is a happy camper. That should be the case as long as the team continues to win.
