New York Jets are headed for rock bottom

Manish Mehta, NYDailyNews:
From shanked punts to blocked punts to overthrows, it was a smorgasbord of ineptitude. Just when you thought a 2-8 team couldn’t spiral deeper into the abyss, the 2014 Jets presented you with this garbage.
The Jets resembled a Pop Warner team incapable of playing at a professional level. They made enough maddening physical and mental errors to accelerate the aging process.

One of the positive notes for the New York Jets was the touchdown saving tackle by QB Michael Vick following an interception by Buffalo CB Duke Williams. Michael's night was over after the tackle. He had injured his leg on the play. Michael finished with 7 for 19 passing for 76 yards and an interception. His QB rating was 27.5.

The Bills would score two plays after the interception following a penalty for having 12 men in a defensive huddle. They could have used them all. It was now 31-3, and the QB controversy returned for the Jets when Geno Smith replaced Michael Vick. Geno built up his statistics in completing 10 of 12 passes for 89 yards, but produced no points.

Mark Cannizzaro, NYPost:
This was middle-school stuff.
“Yeah,’’ Ryan later lamented. “The delay of game. We get a penalty and then we have to call timeout. That’s … that’s hard to explain.’’
And Marrone outcoached Ryan so thoroughly it was as if they were coaching in different leagues. This was Lombardi vs. Kotite.
(Rich Kotite coached the 1995 and 1996 New York Jets to 3-13 and 1-15 records).

I don't think it is necessary to keep flying the planes over the Jets' practice facility to fire general manager, John Idzik. A new broom will sweep John, Rex Ryan and anybody associated with the 2014 New York Jets clean. You made your point. The Jets are officially on the clock.

With the first pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the New York Jets select Jameis Winston, QB Florida State
