Super Bowl 49 will go down as one of the great Super Bowls in history

Let me start this out by saying I am 24 and I started caring about football around '99 or 2000 or so, and I'm not what you would call a sports history buff, so I don't claim to be an expert on Super Bowls past. A little perspective before I get into this article.

With that said, Super Bowl 49 is one of the best in the past 15 years or so. You could make an argument for a number of games in the past few years, but this game is up there because it was a well played game all around. It had a number of great plays and iconic moments, especially late. You had Jermaine Kearse's late catch, which most fans thought would be "David Tyree 2.0," then you had Malcolm Butler's game ending interception a few plays later. You also had Tom Brady doing Tom Brady things and orchestrating a great comeback, matching the largest comeback in Super Bowl history. He cut through a great defense and made it look easy. And he broke his idol's record for most Super Bowl touchdown passes.

In short, this had everything you could want from a Super Bowl. It's right up there with some of the great Super Bowls, especially recently. In the past 15 years or so, some of the ones that jump out to me were the 3 Patriots wins (of course) because they all came down to the wire, Super Bowl 44 involving the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts because of what it meant to that city and Super Bowl 47 between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. At least for Super Bowl 44, I think the Saints temporarily took over the mantle of "Americas Team" from the Dallas Cowboys because everyone outside of Indianapolis was rooting for the Saints because New Orleans had suffered for so long with Hurricane Katrina. It's a similar scenario to the Red Sox in 2013 after the Boston Marathon bombings. Super Bowl 47 was a tight, tense game, and you also had the lights in the Super Dome go out for about half an hour, so that one had a little extra.

But this one will be remembered because it was a well played game between 2 evenly matched teams. Have an opinion on where this one ranks in history? Leave a comment below, because like I said, I certainly don't know everything about every Super Bowl ever played.
