Akeem Ayers signs 2-year deal with Rams

Patriots linebacker Akeem Ayers has signed a two-year deal with the St. Louis Rams, making him the fifth Patriots free agent to leave the team. Ayers was acquired in a mid-season trade with the Tennessee Titans and proved to be a vital piece to the Patriots' defense.

Ayers accumulated four sacks and an interception and filled in admirably for Chandler Jones, who missed seven games due to a hip injury. Ayers' biggest highlight as a Patriot came when he sacked Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning on 4th and 6 at New England's 34-yard line late in the second quarter.

That preserved the Patriots' 20-7 lead over Denver at the time. The rest is history. However, Ayers' was almost nonexistent in the post-season, as he only played 24 snaps. We wish him well in St. Louis.
