Andre Johnson asks for release, could he land with the Ravens?

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

As we was reported earlier this week, the Houston Texans gave Andre Johnson a permission to seek a trade.

Now it appears the his agent has asked for an outright release.

Johnson will undoubtedly want to go to a contender to have a chance at a Super Bowl before his career ends. The Patriots might be on that list but its unknown how interested they will be. Or if they will even be capable of signing him due to the salary cap and other impeding free agents that need addressed.

Another team that has been mentioned as a potential landing spot is the Baltimore Ravens

RotoWorld

ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley considers Baltimore a potential landing spot for Andre Johnson.
Hensley notes GM Ozzie Newsome's history of success with "old" wide receivers -- Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Smith Sr. -- as well as the need if free agent Torrey Smith walks. The Ravens are an annual playoff team, which will appeal to Johnson as his career winds down. Baltimore is currently strapped for cap space, but could make cuts and restructure deals to create room. Hensley sees Johnson as an "ideal fit" in new OC Marc Trestman's offense.

What are your thoughts? Should the Patriots go after Johnson to not only help with their bid to repeat as Super Bowl Champions while keeping him away from a bitter rival? Or should they stay the course with who the already have at he position?
