Brandon Browner finds new home with New Orleans Saints

Warren Kulo, GulfLive:
The New Orleans Saints, desperately seeking a cornerback to pair with Keenan Lewis, have made an offer of more than $5 million per season to former New England and Seattle cornerback Brandon Browner, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rappaport.

The length of the proposed contract was not disclosed.

The scouting report on Browner: Tough guy who will hold teammates accountable for their work. On the field, he's a physical presence at the line of scrimmage but has lost a step in recent years and consequently has become penalty prone. Three big reasons why the Saints are so interested in cornerback Brandon Browner: Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans and Carolina Panthers' WR Kelvin Benjamin.

It has been a wild ride for Brandon Browner since he left Oregon State University. An undrafted free agent for the Denver Broncos, four years with the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampeders, three years with the Seattle Seahawks, one year with the New England Patriots, and now another fresh start with the New Orleans Saints.

Along the way, there have been two Super Bowl victories, one four game suspension for violation of the league's performance enhancing drug policy, lots of penalties, and plenty of bidders for his services. It helps that Browner is an asset in press-man coverage, and his physical style of play actually draws penalties, too.

Brandon Browner is leaving the Super Bowl champions for the second year in a row. He is joining an organization that is dealing with severe salary cap issues. It also has a major family feud with control of ownership at stake involving owner, Tom Benson.

NOLA:
In New Orleans, Benson was scheduled to be evaluated by three doctors in a separate lawsuit in Orleans Parish Civil District Court brought by the three heirs. They're seeking to have the billionaire declared incompetent to handle his own affairs, including the Saints.

In the New York Times on March 9, 2015, Tom's three daughters, Rita, Renee and Ryan have said that their father thinks that "Ronald Reagan is still the President."

I hope Brandon Browner enjoys his three year deal with New Orleans. It is safe to say that he will not be appearing in the Super Bowl for the third straight year.
