Sebastian Vollmer goes under the knife

Patriots starting right tackle Sebastian Vollmer underwent offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. Its unclear when he suffered the injury but he was able to effectively play through it. Only missing the final game of the regular season when the team rested many of their starters.

Vollmer has been spending time at Gillette rehabilitating from the surgery. He should be ready by the beginning of training camp if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Having less time to recover from offseason surgeries is one draw back of a team making it to the Super Bowl and Vollmer is one of several Patriots who are in that situation. That list includes Donta Hightower, Sealver Siliga, Ryan Wendell and Chris Jones.
