Donald Trump compliments Patriots in a weird way

Donald Trump recently announced that he'd be running for President of the United States, and a lot of people are still trying to figure out if that's actually a joke.

During his campaign announcement on Tuesday, he gave Tom Brady and the Patriots a strange, but (I guess) flattering compliment. He compared them to China.

“People say, ‘Oh you don’t like China,'” Trump said, per TMZ Sports. “No, I love them, but their leaders are much smarter than our leaders. And we can’t sustain ourselves with that. … It’s like — take the New England Patriots and Tom Brady, and have them play your high school football team. That’s the difference between China’s leaders and our leaders. They are ripping us.”

It sort of makes sense, but it's still weird. Trump, as many know, is a friend of Brady and the organization.
