Dion Lewis thanks fans on Twitter for supporting him

Patriots running back Dion Lewis learned yesterday that his season is over after an MRI revealed he tore his ACL on Sunday against the Redskins.

Lewis went down grabbing his left knee with about 5:40 in the third quarter after trying to make a cut to get past a defender. He laid down on the field for several minutes before getting up and walking off under his own power.

Lewis made a huge impression in the preseason with his quickness and his ability to catch passes. Many thought that if he could just catch passes, he'd replace Shane Vereen. But Lewis did more than just that. He opened the season as the Patriots No. 1 running back and did something at least once again that made you say "wow."

Lewis finished the season with 234 rushing yards and 388 receiving yards. He also scored four touchdowns.
