Jets down Patriots 26-20 in overtime
It was a mistake made by the Patriots that we've never seen before.
The Jets defeated the Patriots 26-20 in overtime after Matthew Slater accidentally told officials the Patriots would kick the ball off to the Jets to begin overtime. The Jets then marched down the field, and Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Eric Decker in the back right corner of the end zone to seal the win for New York.
With the win, New York moves into the final wildcard spot by virtue of the Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Patriots once again lost another key member of the offense, as tackle Sebastian Vollmer suffered a leg injury in the first quarter and did not return.
The Patriots will close the regular season against the Miami Dolphins in Miami next Sunday.
