Duron Harmon is a wizard.
The Patriots' safety said after his team's unbelievable 34-28 overtime win over the Falcons in Super Bowl LI that he called the comeback at halftime. It was definitely a bold prediction at the time, but now it's something that's just indescribable.
NESN:
“What we talked about at halftime, all we were saying was one play at a time, then we can literally make this the greatest comeback ever in Super Bowl history,” Harmon said. “These guys are literally just believing in each other, knowing that if we play our brand of football, it’s going to be hard to beat us for 60 minutes."
It would've been too easy to have doubts. No one would've blamed you, including Chris Long.
“We were down, but nobody stopped working,” Long said. “We went out there because our instincts — no matter what, the guys on our team — the instincts are to keep fighting. And that’s not everybody’s instinct. Even if you’re down, you can be down and have doubts, but you don’t know any other way but to keep grinding it out. And that’s what we did as a team.”
When the game went into overtime and the Patriots got the ball to start the extra frame, Harmon and Long both knew the defense wasnt going to see the field because of Tom Brady.
“We sat back and (defensive coordinator Matt Patricia’s) going over defense,” Patriots safety Duron Harmon said,
“And we’re like, Matty P, we’re not going out there. There’s no way we’re going out there. Tom Brady’s in the groove. He’s doing everything we need him to do to win this game.’ “And that’s what happens. He led that team down that whole fourth quarter. That’s Tom Brady quarter. That’s what we’re going to call it from now on.”
Why? Because Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time.
“During that overtime, I was on the sideline like, ‘I’m not going in,'” Harmon said. “He’s the GOAT, man. He’s going to get it done. This is the MJ (Michael Jordan) of football, the greatest player ever. He’s going to get it done for us. He continues to do it. Think about it. The last Super Bowl we played in, Super Bowl 49, we’re down multiple scores in the fourth quarter. What does he do? Come back and get the win. What does he do (Sunday)? Come back and get the win.
“It’s easy to say the greatest football player of all time is Tom Brady.”
This team is incredible.
