If first impressions are a sign of what’s to come, it looks like newly acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks will fit in with his new team just fine.

Earlier this offseason, the New England Patriots knew they wanted Cooks, and they jumped on the chance right away. The Pats traded their first-round pick in a package to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for Cooks.

Coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons with the Saints, the Patriots saw huge potential in the 23-year-old. And he is already making a great first impression with his new teammates and coaches.

“I’ve seen somebody that works extremely hard, who is very professional, who has come in and earned the respect of his teammates because of the way he’s worked,” said receivers coach Chad O’Shea, “That’s the thing, the first impression I have of him is those strong traits he has, and it’s gonna be great that he’s brought that to our football team.”

Cooks joins Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Malcom Mitchell in what is an already strong wide receiver corps. Who is playing where and what they’ll be used for is unknown at this point, but this group offers a wide range of skills and versatility.

“We ask our guys to do a lot of things, especially this time of year. We don’t put them in specific positions yet. We just ask them to do a lot of things well,” O’Shea said, “He’s really no different at this point than any of our other guys as far as his flexibility. We’re asking everybody to have some type of flexibility at our positon. The more they can do, the better.”
