Best week ever / Worst week ever: Week 8

VH1
Well that wasn’t very fun. At the end of the day we got a win. It wasn’t nearly as comfortable as any of us hoped, but through week 8 I’m starting to wonder if this is just the way the winds are going to blow all season. Can’t be greedy, just hope for Ws. Bill always says nothing matters until after Thanksgiving. It’s hard to believe that much is going to change with this team, so I’m gearing up for the long haul.

BEST WEEK EVER

Running backs. DIDI, Sweet Feet, and Rex played out of this world Sunday. They were catching balls and finding gaps like nobody’s business. The best part was they were making people miss. I feel like we haven’t seen enough of that. James White was Tom’s binky all day long with 5 catches for 85 yards, and it was amazing to see Rexy supremely involved with 7 catches for 68 yards. As I predicted, DIDI is officially the starting back when it comes to ground touches, leading the team with 15 carries. Since Gilly is essentially a corpse, I’m quite alright with that.

The one downside of this positive is that part of the reason Tom is spraying the ball to the backs so often is because everyone else isn’t getting open OR Tom was getting bum rushed every god damn snap. Tom had less time in the pocket than the dude who got a bomb shoved up his ass by Denzel in Man on Fire. While it’s great these guys are showing their talent catching balls, we’re gonna need to keep Tom upright in the weeks to come.

WORST WEEK EVER

It has been a LONG time since I’ve seen the Red Area offense play this horribly. In the past, there have been seasons where this has been an issue. Maybe it feels so bad because we are currently in the shit storm, but my god do things look awful right now. Sunday the Pats go to the Chargers’ red area 4 times, and got one measly touchdown out of it. Not to mention the touchdown has a serious black mark on it considering Hollister straight up tackled the defender covering Gronk to get him free.

Gone are the days of the automatic red area tuddy. When Tom had more options than he knew what to do with. Gronk is the best target without question, but after that there isn’t much help. Cookie, Hoags, and Dola are amazing players, but in the red area they don’t excel. Randy Moss aint walkin’ through that door. Martellus Bennett and Julian Edelman aint walkin’ through that door. Something needs to be done and quick. Thank god for the bye week. Please send me a healthy Money Mitch for the second half of the year.

**Official David Harris snap count through week 8: 47
**Weekly “Are we sure David Harris is alive?”: He’s alive, and he may be our only hope.

UPDATE: Jimmy G is having the worst week ever because he's now on the 49ers. I am also having the worst week ever because I sent Jimmy G to San Francisco and all I got was this stupid second round pick. Still reeling from this trade. Have to digest tomorrow.
