Trent Brown to sign massive deal with the Oakland Raiders

USA TODAY Sports

Before losing Trey Flowers to the Detroit Lions, the Patriots lost left tackle Trent Brown to the Oakland Raiders.

Oakland is giving the behemoth a four-year, $66 million deal with a little over $36 million guaranteed. With this deal in his back pocket, Brown will become the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.

The Patriots traded a third and fifth-round pick to acquire Brown from the San Francisco 49ers in 2018. After coming off a major shoulder injury, Brown performed well as Nate Solder's replacement. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 71 for the 2018-2019 season, which they deem above average.

Brown ranked 37th in pass blocking and 33rd in pressures. He is viewed as a major upgrade over Kolton Miller, whom PFF graded 48, well below average.

The Patriots will have Isaiah Wynn coming back next season to fill the left tackle role after he missed all of last season with a torn Achilles.
