Kellen Winslow will be active, Patriots thin at d-line

ESPNBoston.com:
Newly acquired Patriots tight end Kellen Winslow will be active for tonight’s game against the Ravens, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Winslow has been with the team for just two practices, but coach Bill Belichick said Friday he wasn’t ruling out him contributing with tight end Aaron Hernandez out with an ankle injury.

Patriots defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard have been downgraded to out on the team's injury report.

Deaderick had been listed with an ankle injury while Dennard had been listed with a hamstring injury. Both were questionable.

Some good news, and some bad news.

Winslow has the potential to really help this team while Hernandez is out. He offers a similar type of versatility as a blocker and pass catcher. That'd big for a Pats team that relies on the two tight end offense.

While Dennard being out really doesn't matter at this point, Deaderick is a noteworthy out. Justin Francis will be out as well, though he's been inactive the first two games. Ron Brace will likely fill in for Deaderick.

Still, not as long as Love and Wilfork are active, this team should be fine.
