Patrick Chung's play is ripped, Xs and Os style

Tom E. Curran (CSNNE) recently sat down with Matt Bowen, who writes for the National Football Post and played safety in the NFL for seven years. Curran had Bowen look at the play of the secondary and Bowen gives his assessment. Guess what? It wasn't too favorable!

CSNNE:
"I wasn’t that impressed with Patrick Chung," said Bowen, referring to his play in both games. "I'm not trying to come down on the guy but it seems like he's guessing a lot, his eyes are in the wrong place. A couple of times he left the deep middle of the field in the Seattle game. Anytime a safety leaves the middle of the field on a trick play or a deep pass, that’s discipline. That’s looking in the wrong place and not looking in the right place with his eyes."

Bowen says that Chung's aggressiveness is a liability. Or was in each of the games he watched. Bowen said that, while Kyle Arrington's overall play got him benched, the touchdown Arrington gave up to Doug Baldwin was a shared one.

Hey, we don't need an expert to tell us that Patrick Chung hasn't been playing up to snuff. Yet, I still heard fans saying that the only reason the defense was giving up big plays was because he and Gregory went out. Not true, Chung was on the field for big plays, and helped give up at least two of them.

I don't think him being on the field on the Sidney Rice touchdown would've really helped anything.

Bowen goes on to say that Wilson has not been bad, aside from the aforementioned Rice touchdown. He also says that McCourty should be playing better than he is, and making more plays. He calls him the Patriots best player back there.
