What I'm Watching For: Jets vs. Patriots

As I'm sure everyone can deduce, this is quite a meaningful game for the Patriots' season. With the entire AFC East tied at 3-3, the winner of this game will be the outright leader of the division and hold tiebreaker leads coming down the stretch. In hopes of a Patriots' victory, here are some keys that I am looking for going into this Sunday's matchup.

1) Will They Break? - I love this team. I will ride and die with them. But if this "bend but don't break" defense keeps up, I may very well point a bazooka at my chest and see what happens. Belichick is a better coach than this. This issue should not exist anymore. Are we on the right track to fixing it? I believe so. Should it have taken this long? Hell no. After a very poor showing last week where rookie quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 290+ yards (about 150 too many in my book) and 3 touchdowns on a mere 16 passes just goes to show how bad things can get. If Sanchez puts up a repeat performance then folks we are in trouble.

2) Who Does Number 2 Work For?? - It's been confirmed that Brandon Bolden is out this week with an apparent knee injury (and is possibly on crutches). Who's going to get the load of the second back this week? Shane Vereen had an impressive preseason but has not gotten his fair share of touches through the regular season. I'm looking for him to carry a decent load this week (12-15 touches) to offset Steven Ridley's starting role. Woodhead can just keep doing what he's doing and be the white Kevin Falk.

3) Tebow Factor - Interesting factoid of the day that never even crossed my mind. What do Tim Tebow, Aaron Hernandez, Jermaine Cunningham, and Brandon Spikes all have in common? Tebow was their leader at the University of Florida for all his years played. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Doesn't really pertain to anything I just like hearing myself talk sometimes. Moving on. Every coach that faces the Jets has to plan for Tebow. Rex Ryan is using him in a lot of different sets in which he has managed to be productive. Between the fake punts on 4th and a couple, wildcat, having 2 (3 if you include McNight) quarterbacks line up on offense, and acting as a motivational speaker who whispers sweet nothings into Mark Sanchez's ear, I belive Tebow is starting to find his niche. BB needs to find an easy way to keep Tebow in check whenever he is on the field. Hopefully he sicks Ninko on him as a spy. That would be fun.

If we can lock up the Jets' offense, this game should be a win for the good guys. If we fall to shambles... well then it'll be a closer game than everyone is expecting. Hopefully I'll be chanting J-E-T-S SUCK! SUCK! SUCK! at the top of my lungs proudly and often throughout this game.
