Stevan Ridley, Believe it or not...

If you watch RedZone on Sundays (as you should whenever the Pats aren’t playing) you probably saw a lot of the name "S. Ridley" scrolling across the bottom of your television screen when they were showing the top rushing performers of the day. Stevan Ridley’s 127 yards and a touchdown was just another big-time performance in a breakout season full of them for the second-year back. Ridley, believe it or not, did that in Sunday’s London game against the Rams on just 15 carries, which was good for 8.5 yards per carry. Here are a few other Ridley stats that you may or may not believe.

Ridley, believe it or not… ranks fourth in the NFL in total rushing yards with 716. He also ranks fifth in rushing yards per game with 89.5, falling behind only Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch, Arian Foster, and Redskins rookie standout Alfred Morris, all of whom Ridley has less rushing attempts than.

Ridley, believe it or not… has five rushing touchdowns on the season, which places him tied for second in the NFL, only behind Arian Foster who has a preposterous nine run-ins.

Ridley, believe it or not… averages 127.3 yards per game when he has gotten 20 or more carries this season. He had, as you know, 127 on just 15 attempts on Sunday in London.

Ridley, believe it or not… has only fumbled twice all season, losing just one. Not bad for a guy pegged as a fumble-prone back.

Ridley, believe it or not… only has six receptions all season. It would appear that Bill Belichick prefers Danny Woodhead and Shane Vereen in ball catching scenarios. Ridley has, however, turned two of those receptions in 20-yard and 16-yard gains.

Ridley, believe it or not… averages 4.8 yards per carry, good for ninth among NFL running backs. He ranks fourth in that category among rushers who have more than or exactly 100 carries, and second among those who have 150 or more.

Ridley, believe it or not… has the most rushing yards (716) for a Patriots running back in their first eight games of a season since 2004, when Corey Dillion rushed for 749. Dillion accomplished this on 154 carries to Ridley’s 150.
