Welcome back Visanthe Shiancoe?

Boston Herald
When taking roll call earlier today during the media viewing portion of the Pats walkthrough, Vinsanthe Shiancoe was spotted on the practice field. A short time ago, the Patriots confirmed it was in fact Shiancoe

The tight end had been placed on injured reserve with the designation to return. Under the new rule, Shiancoe was eligible to return to practice after Week 6 and is eligible to begin playing in games after Week 8.

I think it was generally accepted that Shiancoe's injury wasn't extremely serious, and I'd expect him to come back after the bye.

We saw in the beginning of the year that the Patriots were really into running a three tight end set. Since Aaron Hernandez got injured they've gotten away from that. Perhaps with a bye week under their belt and some extra rest for the ailing Hernandez and Gronk, the Pats might go back to trying that out. Shiancoe gives the Patriots another dynamic player who has been a proven weapon in the passing game.

He was injured early on in training camp and never returned.
