Fireman Ed is no more

Edwin Anzalone who everyone knows as Fireman Ed has "resigned" as the Jets mascot (I guess he's their mascot...or was...). He left the game on Thanksgiving before halftime and promptly deleted his Twitter account to the satisfaction of Patriots fans. He's obnoxious when the Jets are up and a frequent on camera when the Jets are down. Fireman Ed has been leading the J-E-T-S chant from section 134 since 1986. The Pro Football Hall of Fame included him as part of the Hall of Fans. He is still going to attend games just not as Fireman Ed.

I must say I am sad this guy is stepping down. Especially when the Patriots kick the Jets ass and we don't get to see this face anymore(just not as Fireman Ed):

People are saying that Fireman Ed is quitting on his team. He has a good defense against that saying he has gone through tougher times as a Jets fan. Then he gets all deep and emotional on us:

I decided to leave Thursday because the confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic. This is an indication of how society has lost and is continuing to lose respect for one another.

Morality class anyone?

The stadium has become divided because of the quarterback controversy as well. The fact that I chose to wear a Mark Sanchez jersey this year and that fans think I am on the payroll - which is an outright lie - have made these confrontations more frequent. Whether it's in the stands, the bathroom or the parking lot, these confrontations are happening on a consistent basis.

It's great how he mentions the quarterback controversy which has torn this team. Great move by management!
