Ryan Mallett to be placed on trade block

With Tom Brady signing his deal, virtually making him a Patriot for life, it looks like Mallett could be out of New England soon, maybe before the draft in April.

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe has said the Patriots won't take anything less than a 2nd round pick for him, which makes it seem likely he could actually stay a Patriot.

Here's why. When Tom Brady went down, Matt Cassell led the Patriots to an 11-5 record and what did they get for him? A 2nd round pick. Not to mention that Mike Vrabel was also involved in that deal. So you get a 2nd round pick for a "proven" quarterback and a veteran linebacker that won 3 super bowls with the Patriots, but now the Patriots want nothing less than a second round pick for a guy who hasn't taken any snaps apart from taking a knee (well actually he's 1 for 4 for 17 yards and a pick). Hmmmmm.

They are obviously asking too much for a guy who hasn't proven shit, so I think he'll be here next year unless they lower their demands.
