Patriots trying to get Talib deal sorted soon

Things are well and truly kicking off as the NFL season begins tomorrow. And don't worry New England Patriots fans, we're trying to get something done too, according to NFL.com:

Greg Bedard of The Boston Globe reported Monday that the Patriots would like to get a deal with Talib done soon, according to multiple sources

Which is good to hear. Listen, we don't need to go over how important the "Big 3" Free Agents are to the Patriots, and in a perfect world, we would sign all three of them.

But a perfect world it ain't. And we haven't heard anything on Sebastian Vollmer, we're hearing reports that it's "likely" Wes Welker remains a Patriot. So where does that leave us with Aqib Talib?

Well as it says above, they're trying to keep him around. Talib is one of the best corners on the market, and with the instant impact Talib had on the defense, it's obvious they'd rather take on a guy they know than a player who could be hit and miss.

And a deal at the Patriots would be good for Talib too: he's had character issues, and he's found a home as a leader and impact player in a previously shambolic secondary. And, as Bedard points out, if he hits the market, his price will be down due to the amount of good CB's out there.

So guys, let's just work something out and go get to Super Bowl XLVIII, OK?
