The players still available at key positions for Patriots

The Patriots came into the off-season with needs on the defensive line, secondary, offensive line and wide receiver. They've made signings in all of those areas except for the defensive line.

Two of those four areas have been pretty well taken care of.

In the secondary, they've taken strides to at least keep the status quo with the re-signings of Aqib Talib and Kyle Arrington and also by bringing in Adrian Wilson to replace Patrick Chung. On the offensive line, they've re-signed Sebastian Vollmer and brought on Will Svitek to shore up the tackle spot, however they still need a guard to replace Donald Thomas as a backup after he signed with Indianapolis.

The two areas that still remain a concern are the defensive line and wide receiver position. In my opinion, the Patriots need to sign either Dwight Freeney or John Abraham as sub-rushers to help their porous pass rush. They should also look to build depth by signing Vaughn Martin, Sione Pouha or Tommy Kelly.

The Wide Receiver corps is still looking thing however. The Patriots signing of Donald Jones and Danny Amendola might help the loss of Wes Welker a little bit, but it still remains a position of need. The Patriots had Emmanuel Sanders in for a visit, and could offer him a deal that Pittsburgh wouldn't be able to match - giving up a third round pick in the process. Some other solutions could involve them turning their attention to re-signing Brandon Lloyd at a reduced rate, bringing back Julian Edelman or even making a run at Chargers' receiver Danario Alexander.

The cornerback and receiver positions have some of the most talent left. Other than the wide receivers mentioned above, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Laurent Robinson, Ramses Barden and Devery Henderson are some names that could help fill out the Patriots wide receiver depth chart.

As far as cornerbacks, both Brent Grimes and Quentin Jammer were on my list of top five free-agent corners the Patriots could sign. Though I saw Jammer as more of a player that could transition to safety, so the Adrian Wilson signing makes that a moot pint. DeAngelo Hall and Rashean Mathis are some other bigger names that haven't gotten a lot of traction.

So, there's my take on what's left at the Patriots key need positions. Here's a look at the list, info taken from Rotoworld:
