Cross Nnamdi off the wish list
Even though chances of the Patriots signing former All-Pro Nnamdi Asomugha were highly unlikely, we can all dream can't we? On the heels of DeAngelo Hall remaining with the Redskins (a more likely option for the Pats), the biggest name defensive back on the market became a member of the San Francisco 49ers. According to reports, Nnamdi signed with the 'Niners for 1 year and up to $3 million.
Well, I don't know about you guys but this is bittersweet for me. If you asked me just a couple years back when Nnamdi was the top free agent on the market, I would have drooled at the idea of him being on the Patriots. How times have changed. The former star was looking for a new team, with a team friendly contract becoming more and more likely. Looking back on it now, I guess I never realistically considered him a serious option for the Patriots this season. On paper, signing Nnamdi Asomugha sounds amazing. The super fan deep down in me was dying to hear that the Patriots were possibly interested.... but they weren't. Now that reality is settling in, I agree with the decision to not pursue him.
