Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu selected by Cardinals

By far, we had the most coverage on Tyrann Mathieu this off-season. The corner was seen as a potential great fit, and someone the Pats could get great value on as well. Since being busted for smoking pot, his draft stock fell. Still, most expected him to go somewhere in the third round, and that he did.

The Patriots did show considerable interest in Mathieu. The prospect revealed that they showed signs of wanting to draft him both in his interviews at the combine and at a visit to Foxborough. He also later tweeted, "Patriots don't play". The 49ers were also said to be interested. The pick was before the Patriots were slotted, and so Mathieu is headed to the desert.

Mathieu would've likely projected as a slot corner and could also help in punt returns.
