Alfonzo Dennard arrested again

Yet more bad news in the New England Patriots off season - and it's yet another arrest. According to www.1011now.com, Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has been arrested for a DUI.

The promising cornerback duo of Dennard and Aqib Talib was looking to be the foundation of a new era of Patriots defense that could actually defend the pass at a reasonable level, but after this news, Dennard's future could well be in question.

Yet again, the Patriots organization is associated with a player in trouble with the law. Already in this off season, Dennard was found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a bar just weeks before the 2012 draft. With another arrest, this might be the end of the 7th round picks stay in New England.

Look at the action taken against Aaron Hernandez. Granted, both cases are completely different, Hernandez's alleged crime is a lot worse than a DUI. But in a way, the two are pretty similar. Hernandez fell to the 4th round, and the Patriots took a shot despite this. Dennard fell to the 7th round because of his arrest before the draft and the Patriots still took a shot, because the on field talent is that of a player clearly worth more than a 7th. Both players have blown their chance.

Will the Patriots release the player? Who knows. But they got Hernandez off their roster very quickly, and Dennard is still on the books. The crime is less severe, but will Dennard just become a hassle that's not worth dealing with? I'm sure as more comes out about the legal consequences another arrest brigs Dennard, we'll have a clearer picture of how the Patriots will deal with yet another player issue this off season.

Football can't come soon enough.
