Patriots Going After All of Aaron Hernandez's Contract Money

According to NFL and Boston Globe sources, the Patriots are looking to get all of Aaron Hernandez’s guaranteed contract money. They believe they have the right under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that covers the team if the player engaged in conduct unbecoming after being charged for first degree murder.

The Patriots have also voided the rest of Hernandez’s workout bonuses as he will be in jail during that time period while the investigation takes place. Finally, the Patriots are also going after the rest of Hernandez’s initial signing bonus which they opted to pay out over the length of his contract.

NFL’s Ian Rapoport believes this will be an uphill battle for the Patriots and might be their hardest fight. Though it’s an uphill battle for the Patriots, they seem more than willing to make Hernandez fight for his money while also fighting for his freedom.
