Who is Kenbrell Thompkins?

Who is Kenbrell Thompkins? A 6'1, 193lb unknown and undrafted deep threat and possession receiver according to one scout.

During minicamp the receiver position has been a huge focus with Michael Jenkins and Danny Amendola getting first team reps... along with (you definitely knew this one) Thompkins.

Thompkins was signed along with a pool of undrafted free agents post draft. Thompkins was originally a Kiffin recruit for Tennessee who was going to transfer from junior college to the Vols his Junior Year but when Kiffin left, so did his opportunity to be a vol.

Thompkins landed in Cincinnati and played for 2 seasons and during those two seasons he recorded 78 catches for 1,077 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Thompkins was noticed first by Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston who tweeted out during minicamp:

This is either a sign of promise or of desperation. But with the Patriots in good financial stability I don't see why they would be putting Thompkins in tier one with the starters without seeing something when they could easily go out and sign or trade for a receiver that's established. Thompkins division I highlight film in college is small and rare to find but from what I have observed, he shows flashes of speed especially when he gets downfield, he wins jump balls and has solid hands. Watch out for Thompkins to be a surprise constant part in the Patriots' receiver core in 2013.

Thompkins also has NFL blood running through his veins with his cousin, Antonio Brown who is an established wideout for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
