Best free agents available to help New England

As we near the start of the season and the rosters are just starting to take place. Thinking about adding players could be kind of a bad idea since you're trying to cut players, but nonetheless picking up a player now might bode well instead of inserting a random free agent into a system to play in with less than a week to prepare.

According to thesidelineview.com these are the available free agents as of August 28th.

Key players who can help the Patriots?

WR:

Jabar Gaffney: Possession WR and former Patriot.

Devery Henderson: Very quick, stretch the field.

Steve Breaston: Underrated part of Arizona's attack, played decently in a horrible situation in KC.

Braylon Edwards: The big WR NE needs, unreliable hands, yet great ability and has something to prove.

FB:

Lawrence Vickers: Not usually a need for NE, but he's a big guy who use to be the league's best, if not, one of the best. At 6 feet, 250 pounds. He'd be a great last ditch pass blocker as well.

T:

Jared Gaither: SD signed him and he played great for the most part. He'd be a good depth at tackle, and at 6'9, 335. He'd be a HUGE part of the o-line.

DE:

Mark Anderson: Former Pat who played very well was let go to the dismay of Patriot fans, now he's back on the market and could add some depth at a position that needs a strong backup pass rusher.

Ray Edwards: Failed in Atlanta, played well in Minnesota. The d-line was strong in Minnesota, which could answer his decline in production in Atlanta.

CB:

Terrence McGee: Little older, and small. But still had some talent in Buffalo before being cut.

Cedric Griffin: Decent and improved pass coverage, and was actually pretty good in Minnesota before going to Washington.
