Patriots release Michael Jenkins


Big surprise!

Not really though. Jenkins is a slower, older receiver who was never expected to be much more than a camp body. He had the primary reps with Brady at the beginning of minicamp, but since has fallen out of the rotation.

The move is probably a good sign for the Patriots, as it means they are more confident in their young receivers. If Michael Jenkins was among your top three pass catchers heading into the season, that offense would be in trouble.
