Zoltan Mesko has been released, according to a source. Ryan Allen wins the job.

The punter had a good camp and preseason, but was locked in a tough competition with rookie Ryan Allen. It's unlikely that Allen would've cleared through waivers if he were released.
Since the competition was pretty even, it appears the Patriots have decided to move on without Mesko. Despite his charming personality. The Patriots save $1 million by parting ways with Mesko in favor of Allen. This was likely a key consideration in Mesko's release.
