Randy Moss joining Fox Sports

Coming soon to a TV near you... none other than Randy Moss.

Widespread speculation that his days on the field had come to an end after a less than impressive performance in last season's Super Bowls have been confirmed today as Moss has reportedly signed on to Fox Sports 1, a new network that launches on August 17th.

Fox is undoubtedly bringing in a major personality in Moss, who throughout his career provided entertaining and often controversial comments. He was relatively tight-lipped with the media, but when we did hear his southern drawl it was usually pretty interesting.

If Moss has in fact played his last game in pads, he will go down as one of the greatest of all time, accumulating 982 receptions for 156 touchdowns and 15,292 yards in a career that spanned 16 seasons with five teams.

His best season was 2007 in New England, when him and Tom Brady smashed the record books, connecting on 23 touchdown passes during the regular season. The team has not found a receiver to replicate Moss' production since he was traded to Minnesota in the middle of the 2010 season.

And Moss never came close to replicating his level of play in New England after leaving. During his brief stints with Minnesota, Tennessee, and San Francisco, Moss did not do much of anything, which is why it does not come as much of a surprise he is turning to broadcasting now.

That being said, his days in New England will always be memorable, and I doubt there will ever be a more prolific single season QB/WR tandem than Brady and Moss in 07.
