Report: Danny Amendola "iffy" for Thursday's preseason game

The Patriots will hit the road to take on the Detroit Lions for the all important third preseason game on Thursday.

However, there's now a serious question as to whether or not new receiver Danny Amendola will be along for the ride.

CSNNE:
The status of Danny Amendola, who missed practice Monday with an undisclosed injury, is up in the air for this week's game in Detroit according to a source...

While not specifying what the injury was, the source indicated that what ails Amendola isn't expected to be a long-term issue.

The source said that Amendola didn't sustain a head injury.

It was first reported that Amendola was being given a day off from practice yesterday, however, there has since been speculation that he suffered a head injury in the team's exhbition contest with the Bucs.

This recent report from CSNNE's Tom Curran contradicts both accounts. The good news is that the injury does not appear to be severe. The bad news is that this is cropping up already.

No one doubted that Danny Amendola could be a key contributor for this Patriots team. However, there was much doubt as to whether he could hold up over the course of a season.
