Rex Ryan claims the Jets have positive momentum

Typically NFL teams do not enjoy having a short week to prepare for their next game. With a Thursday night game Tuesday now becomes "Friday" and the players need to be both physically and mentally prepared to handle it. On a rare occasion a team actually welcomes the quick turnaround to continue to build on positive results. Last week the Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Lavonte David dual-handily shifted some "positive" momentum in the Jets favor.

Rex Ryan claims that the positive vibes have been around since the preseason where they went 3-1.
“We have way more positive momentum than people give us credit for... Inside our building it’s been nothing but positive. We’ve had probably as good an offseason as anyone in the league when it comes to the amount of players here for voluntary work, the type of work they’re doing at minicamps and then our training camp, we had great competition at several positions. We have a close football team.

While that may all be fine and dandy unless momentum changes on the field, none of those vibes matter.  Lavonte David didn't shove Geno Smith out of bounds, he pushed the fat lady off the balcony while she warmed up her vocal chords to signal the end of the Jets season. Now they have momentum and a hated divisional foe in their path who at the moment may have a worse receiving core than their own.

Things are unfolding as well as the Jets could have asked to start the season, even Mark Sanchez appears to out of their hair. Yet, all good things must come to an end. Unfortunately for the Jets these first 10 days of the season are about as good as it should get but as Rex Ryan recognizes the Jets are already very close to the bottom.  "The great thing is, we get to prove it. We go on the field and I think this team is a way better team than people give it credit for. I think we were ranked 32nd in the power rankings, I’m sure were 31st this week. After Thursday night and the slate of weekend games, expect the Jets to be back at 32nd in the rankings.
