Game of Thrones 5th book trolls 2007 Patriots, written by Jets fan

HBO's popular hit Game of Thrones is famous for dragons, boobs and killing off characters you like.

It also may soon be famous for a reference to the New England Patriots.

Author and devout Giants and Jets fan, George R.R. Martin, apparently has a not so subtle reference to Bill Belichick and the the 2007 Patriots in the fifth installment of the books series, "A Dance with Dragons".

An entry in Belchick's wikipedia page details the reference.

"The A Song of Ice and Fire novel A Dance with Dragons contains a passage referencing Belichick. "The galley was also where the ship's books were kept... the fourth and final volume of The Life of the Triarch Belicho, a famous Volantene patriot whose unbroken succession of conquests and triumphs ended rather abruptly when he was eaten by giants." Referring to the New England Patriots' 2007 season, in which the Patriots went undefeated until losing in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants."

Given the fact that George Martin was passionate enough to write an entire live journal post about the Jets trading Revis, I wouldn't say I'm surprised.

If Martin really wanted to troll the Patriots though, he might've come up with a less cool way to die than getting eaten by Giants. Kind of a badass way to go.
