Jerod Mayo could be out for the season

Patriots pro bowl linebacker Jerod Mayo left the team's game against the New Orleans Saints last week after delivering a heavy hit on running back Darren Sproles. He did not return and was seen leaving the stadium in a sling.

Mum has been the word since then, until this latest report.

Yahoo Sports:
New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo could miss the rest of the season after having surgery Tuesday to repair a torn pectoral muscle, Yahoo Sports has learned.

The injury, confirmed by two sources, is a blow to the Patriots, who pulled out a last-second victory over New Orleans on Sunday but may have lost four key players for significant time.

With this news the entire Patriots fanbase can let out a collective, "What the hell?". Every team struggled with injuries in the NFL, it just seems that the most important Pats are dropping like flies.

The team parted ways with Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd in the off-season, released Aaron Hernandez after a murder charge, still are without Rob Gronkowski who recovers from off-season surgeries, they lost Danny Amendola to a groin injury in Week 1, Vince Wilfork for the year in Week 4, Tommy Kelly was injured in Week 5, and in Week 6 Dan Connolly, Jerod Mayo, Aqib Talib and Danny Amendola (again) were all injured.
