McCourty a captain again

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald is reporting that fourth year safety Devin McCourty has once again been named a defensive captain, after mysteriously not retaining the title earlier in the year. This of course comes as a result of captains Vince Wilfork and Jerod Mayo landing on season ending injured reserve.

McCourty, who was recently named to the Pro Football Focus "Team of the Month,", has been one of the stars of a much improved 2013 Patriots defense. He will now assume a significant leadership role going forward, and will have to anchor a secondary that will be without shutdown corner Aqib Talib this Sunday, and possibly beyond.
