Matt Ryan had a 0.0 passer rating when throwing at Aqib Talib

Aqib Talib has been the MVP of the 2013 New England Patriots. That was most evident on Sunday night when he shut down Matt Ryan and his elite receiving crew. Not since Ty Law was roaming the secondary have the Patriots had a definitive, top-tier, shutdown corner. It is clear they have that in Talib.

How good was Talib's game in Atlanta? It was (aside from a BS pass interference call) perfect. According to a report from Pro Football Focus, Talib was targetted seven times, allowing zero catches, resulting in a passer rating of 0.0 for Matt Ryan, one of the league's elite quarterbacks. He also added an interception at a critical point in the game, his league-leading 4th of the year.

The Patriots suffered a major loss to their defense during the game when Vince Wilfork sustained a season-ending achilles injury. While Big Vince has been the centerpiece of the defense for years, it is becoming increasily evident this season that Aqib Talib is the best, and most important player on the field.
