Edelman's and Welker's stats are near exact.

When Wes Welker left New England, many fans had many different emotions. One being, including me, with the "We have Edelman." statement. A 7th round draft pick and a player whom I've seen step up once Welker went down a certain times in the season. Now that Welker is gone, Edelman has to fulfill that empty void Welker has left, and has he?

The answer is absolutely yes, through 13 weeks of football, Edelman's and Welker's stats are very similar.

As you can see, Edelman has only two more catches, six fewer yards and five less touchdowns. So how much is Brady really missing Welker? Edelman is on pace for around 93/94 receptions in his first year of really being a part of this offense. His role should only expand from here and should really develop if New England hauls in a big receiver such as Larry Fitzgerald.

Bigger days are ahead for Edelman, and he's already a household name in the New England areas. Yet another no name player Brady has turned into a threat.
