Fantasy Fix: Playoff Bound - Week 15 Waiver Wire Blues

It was either the first week of the Fantasy playoffs or the final week of the regular season for many Fantasy Fixers and it proved to be disastrous as the snow-pocalypse hit causing players to slip slide their way to disappointing stats and in the case of Reggie Bush to decide that snow was too cold to actually play in. Damn California boy. Actually, Reggie hurt is calf when he slipped during warmups. Snow can be dangerous.
*note to self: Buy winter home in Ecuador*
Unrelated weather injuries also felled this years top Fantasy pick Adrian Peterson and one of the best tight ends in the game Rob Gronkowski. AP is day-to-day, but it doesn’t look good this week. Gronkowski blew out his knee and doesn’t look good until Thanksgiving of 2014. That hurts. No, not Gronk’s knee, but my Fantasy team. I own him everywhere.
If your roster is hurtin’ and you’re playoff bound, let’s play the waiver wire blues and run down the players owned in 50% or less leagues, position-by-position and get your roster ready for some money making. We need that cash for our villa in Ecuador.
Quarterback
Alex Smith, (KC) at Oak: Smith is not the most exciting quarterback to ever come along, but he’s actually having a better Fantasy season than Tom Brady, Matt Ryan and Colin Kaepernick. That’s fact, not opinion. Now Mr. Smith goes to Oakland, who just made Geno Smith look like, well, Alex Smith. Fantasy projection: 18 points.
Running Back
Toby Gerhart, (MIN) vs. Phi: If Adrian Peterson can’t go (and it looks like he won’t) get your waiver claim in on Gerhart. He’ll be the most popular kid on the block this week. Gerhart is facing a tough Eagles run D, but he is averaging 9.2 YPC this season. Grab him now, I’ll wait. *taps foot, looks at watch, lights cigarette, realizes I don’t smoke, passes out* Who were we talking about what again? Fantasy projection: 12 points.
Wide Receiver
Ace Sanders, (JAC) vs. Buf: Ace who? Sanders is averaging over six Fantasy points in his last four games. Love him in PPR leagues. Like, like him in standard. He faces a Buffalo secondary that couldn't stop Ace Ventura. Fantasy projection: 9.50 points.
Tight End
Dennis Pitta, (BAL) at Det: Were you a Gronk owner, too? Now, now, there, there, it’ll be alright, pick up Pitta and we’ll drown our sorrows in cheap beer later. Fantasy projection: 10 points.
Defense/Special Teams
Buffalo Bills at Jac: The Bills defense is averaging over 10 Fantasy points in their last three games and face a Jags team that is giving up the 3rd most to Fantasy D’s this year. That all adds up to a good streaming option and a game I won’t watch. Fantasy projection: 10 points.
Kicker
Nick Novak, (SD) at Den: I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t snow in Denver Thursday. According my Farmers Almanac it won’t snow, but it may rain Peyton Manning touchdowns. Fantasy projection: 9.50 points.
