Broncos safety Mike Adams says Julian Edelman isn't as good as Wes Welker

"I'm just playin, that Julian guy's awesome."

Another layer to the Broncos-Patriots matchup this weekend is former Patriot receiver Wes Welker facing his old team, and replacement, Julian Edelman.

According to Mike Adams, there is evidently a huge difference between our old friend Wes and new best friend Julian, and it's not the size of their helmets...

Here's what he told the Denver media:
“I can’t compare the two because Wes is -- he’s something special. He can jive up the ball and then speed out and have you off-balance.

Edelman, he doesn’t do that. He’s a one-speed guy. He doesn’t have the same ability or the quickness that Wes has in the slot. I guess that is the main difference between them. But I don’t know if they use him the same as they used Wes because they’re totally different players."

Here's my biggest difference between the two receivers this season: Julian has been on the field. Mr. Reliable Wes Welker has been battling serious concussions and missed a few games this season. Julian, who has had a injury history, was all but perfect this season and his final numbers refelct that.

Obviously both receivers are extremely talented and skilled and maybe Wes does have that something that makes him better in the eyes of Mike Adams. But Wes' body won't be able to keep up with the amount of abuse he has taken over the years and that 'something' might be gone real soon. Edelman has got a lot of years still to go and if he hangs around Tom Brady, he's only going to get better. Plus, he makes smoothies, c'mon son.
